A simple hex for when being a good witch is over

Bay Leaves

The Ethics of Using Negative Energy

As with any form of magic or spellcasting, the ethics of curses are a subject of debate. While some practitioners adhere to a "harm none" principle and refrain from using such methods, others believe in the concept of karma and the threefold law, which dictates that any harm caused will return threefold to the caster. Thus, the decision to engage in curse work using is a personal choice that carries moral implications for the practitioner.

I don't as a rule recommend practicing with anger or allowing negative emotions to rule any of my actions. I normally process my anger and take solace in the knowledge that bad energy will come back around to the offender. And I get on with my life. I choose to not allow the offender any more of my time or my energy. But sometimes, you have an encounter that you cannot put aside. And you make the choice to send them a taste of their own ugliness.

When I have reached the limits of being a good witch, I use the bay leaf hex. It's simple, its effective, and I always have bay leaves.

Bay Leaves

Bay Leaves

Within the craft bay leaves are known possess the ability to influence luck and fortunes, both positively and negatively. While they are often associated with protection and prosperity, when used with malevolent intent, bay leaves can be harnessed to cast curses and bring about misfortune.

Casting the hex

Choose a day that isn't too windy and find a spot to sit on the ground where you can safely burn the bay leaf.

Gather up some white salt, the dried bay leaf, an orange candle, your choice of fire starter, a spoonful of coffee grounds, and a black marker.

Center yourself, and scatter the salt hear where you sit

pour the coffee grounds on a fire safe surface on the ground

Light the orange candle

Picture the offender in your mind, and sift through the emotions they caused you

Write their name on the bay leaf

Visualize wrapping all the bad energy in a gift box

Light the bay leaf with the fire from the candle

place the burning bay leaf on top of the coffee grounds

As the leaf burns, mentally send the gift box back to the offender

Speak this spell

I send you back these awful gifts

anger, frustration,

hurt and confusion

These awful gifts you deserve

I break your hold, I wash my hands

I send you only what you have earned

When the leaf has burned to ash, dig a small hole and mix in the ash with the dirt, cover it, and sprinkle a bit of the white salt over it. Not too much salt though because it can interfere with the growth of grass and such.

Blow out your candle

Visualize all the leftover negative energy leaving you and dispersing in the air

After the hex

You need to take a shower after casting this hex. It's vital to fully rid yourself of any negative emotions, imagine washing them off and going down the drain.
